Here's a question for anyone who watches any type of anime (inuyasha, naruto...) has there been any that has been described for the blind? I'd also be interested to know if anyone's written discriptions form manga serieses.
Not that I know of theirs no described anime. Its a bit too fast paced some of them to be described, and most of the characters are talking throughout the whole episode, so I don't think it'd be possible. I could see where'd it be useful for fighting scenes, but I doubt that its been done.
It's hard enough finding regular described tv, so Anime would probably be non-existent. I'd love to know too however.
Yeah I don't know about described anime, I think it would kill the actual thing, to be honest. Anime just has so much dialogue in it that there would be no appropriate points in which to describe actions.
Descriptions would kill the awesometasticness of Anime.
Now in terms of Manga, I think descriptions would be very awesome. I wish I could read Manga, but sadly I cannot.
I completely agree with the previous poast.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to see moste of what takes place dureing an anime.
Also, something to seriously think about is that tipicly fights and such are extremely fast pased. so, how would one go about explaining several dozen actions that take place in less than a few secconds?
You'd have to pause the actual show to doo this and that would kill it as well.
Well, if it's one of those anime where they have to "charge up" their attacks it could be done, but I know what you mean.
Yeah...description would really not do anything for anime. It'd take all the excitement away. Of course, I'm not much for description anyway, but that's not the point. I'd just have to agree that descriptive anime would be really, really hard to find, if it even exists.
I'm with you, Bri. I very rarely watch described stuff. I'm good at using context clues to figure out what's going on in a show/movie. However, if I do get stuck and there's no one around (as was the case when I first watched the ending of S-cry-ed), I go find the episode summary online.
As for manga, I heard once that they can be found in Braille, but I've never checked into it. Think I'll do that this week.
Namaste,
